Essential Oils

Essential Oils are volatile aromatic essences that give plants their characteristic scents. Although named ‘oils’ they are not composed of lipids. They are concentrated nutrients from a plant that are extracted into liquid form. One drop of the oil can have a thousand times the healing power of the original plant it came from.

We include them in our skincare preparations not only for their scent, but also for their therapeutic and skin healing properties. One of the most challenging things was to come up with scents that not only smell gorgeous, but are also therapeutic and suited to the individual product. It is not as easy as throwing together a few essential oils. They take time to synergise, and are also different when added to different products. Most of our blends are made up of several individual oils.

Plant and Seed Oils

Plant oils originate from the nuts and seeds of trees, fruits, vegetables and flowers.  They are rich in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids that are vital to well being, health and beauty.  They nourish and strengthen the skins own protective barrier.

Seed Oils are the more delicate, light oils expressed from the seeds.   Fruit seeds contain some of the most powerful sources of antioxidants found in nature.  These oils are gaining popularity due to their pleasantly light textures and notable variety of benefits.  With their subtle to strong aromas, they are highly emollient, and are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids.    Particularly anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and beneficial in treating oily, dry or damaged skin.

Abysinnian Oil

Crambe abyssinica

Extracted from the seeds of the Mustard plant, native to the Mediterranean and Abyssinia (Ethiopia).  It contains high levels of Erucic acid which has exceptional skin and hair care benefits.  It improves tone and texture, is ultra-light and easily absorbed into the epidermal tissue.

Botanical Plant Extracts

Our extracts contain:

  • NO palm oil products
  • NO GM materials

  2. A food grade supercritical CO2 extraction method that uses Carbon Dioxide as a solvent.

Both methods are environmentally friendly and non-toxic. Cooling rather than heating is also used, which means the composition and properties of the extracts are very well preserved. During extraction NO synthetic additives or processes are used.
